[09:13] <grogbot> <antoniou79> Hyperspace Delivery Boy (Linux) CD was delivered to me today -- ordered from ixsoft.de.
[09:14] <grogbot> <antoniou79> I took me a bit to install it on Ubuntu 20.04, since it requires an updated installer which is archived, but in the end it got installed. Running it as standalone produced an error about sound, but it ran ok with ScummVM
[09:14] <grogbot> <antoniou79> There are some bugs I noticed with the interface. I'll check if they're reported and, if not, I'll submit tickets for them

[09:38] <grogbot> <gu3> It is very interesting that they keep selling a lot of very old Linux games. I wonder if all of them work in modern releases of Ubuntu.
[09:43] <grogbot> <antoniou79> They officially archived their website download files on archive.org on Feb 2020 (although they don't provide a link on their site, they just mention that is was now archived Sat, Feb 29 2020 LGP website archived. The Linux Game Publishing website archive has been published. We thank you for your support. https://www.linuxgamepublishing.com/index.php?
[09:44] <grogbot> <antoniou79> These archives include demos and patches (updated installers). There are a number of patches for other games they have published, so there is a good chance that their other games will work on modern Ubuntu yet

[16:37] <grogbot> <SupSuper> both, the source is in pascal 😆
[16:38] <grogbot> <DreamMaster> The one true programming language 😄 I was a fan of Delphi for years
[16:39] <grogbot> <Thunderforge> ScummVM supports 8 out of 10 of "The 10 Lamest PC Adventure Games of All Time" 😆 https://www.toplessrobot.com/2008/09/the_10_lamest_pc_adventure_games_of_all_time.php
[16:39] <grogbot> <Thunderforge> With WIP support for The Adventures of Willy Beamish and Martian Memorandum.
[16:40] <Scummette> [scummvm] antoniou79 opened pull request #3897: HDB: A few menu fixes for Hyperspace Delivery Boy! (master...hdbMenuFixes) https://is.gd/zreXrw
[16:40] <grogbot> <DreamMaster> That list is weird.. I would have thought entries like "Limbo of the Lost" would be in it
[16:41] <grogbot> <Thunderforge> That said, the list looks pretty tame. Clearly they only played "mainstream" adventure games and not stuff like Limbo of the Lost or Plumbers Don't Wear Ties.
[16:51] <-- ldevulder left irc: Remote host closed the connection
[17:01] <grogbot> <antoniou79> Some of the games in that list, I either consider great or ok, but not lame -- it's not even close
[17:11] <grogbot> <alk> I totally loved the dig (when I played i back then)
[17:11] <grogbot> <Die4Ever> Yeah, people love Phantasmagoria and The Dig, that list is just wrong lol
[17:23] <grogbot> <rootfather> I really don't like those "best", "worst", "lamest" lists
[17:24] <grogbot> <Thunderforge> They
[17:25] <grogbot> <Thunderforge> They're just there to get clicks and get people to debate them 🙂
[17:28] <grogbot> <Die4Ever> Actual list of best adventure games https://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php?title=Category:Supported_Games Actual list of lamest adventure games https://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php?title=Category:Unsupported_Games
[17:29] <grogbot> <rootfather> 😄
[17:29] <grogbot> <Thunderforge> I do like to look at them though because it gives a good sense of what games people are passionate about, and as a gauge of things people want ScummVM to support.
[17:30] <grogbot> <Thunderforge> Hey now, The Last Express is definitely not a lame game! 🚆
[17:31] <grogbot> <Die4Ever> Then you'll have to find a way to get it moved into the best games list
[17:33] <grogbot> <Die4Ever> Looks like we have WIP support for it
[17:37] <-- sev left irc: Quit: This computer has gone to sleep
[17:38] <grogbot> <DreamMaster> From what I recall of previous discussions, it has one of the most complicated game logic of any game, to accommodate the real-time nature of the game, with characters doing their own thing even when you're not around. So it's been hard to complete the engine, and it's been bitrotting for some years
[17:47] <Scummette> [scummvm] bluegr pushed 1 new commits to master: https://is.gd/V49GdQ

[17:55] <grogbot> <Die4Ever> Sounds interesting, now I wanna play it lol
[17:56] <grogbot> <antoniou79> oh it's a very good game.
[17:57] <grogbot> <antoniou79> hopefully one day I'll have finished with Blade Runner pending stuff and get my hands on the Last Express engine 🙂
[17:59] <-- Sylvain left irc: Read error: Connection reset by peer
[18:00] <grogbot> <lephilousophe> I looked at it a looong time ago (something like 9 years), as it's C++ the reverse was really really hard. Maybe I would manage it better now but I haven't time anymore
[18:02] <grogbot> <antoniou79> Who has the rights for it nowadays? DotEmu? Maybe we could reach out for the source code (one can dream(

[18:39] <grogbot> <somaen> Hmm, Carol Reed 4 on the unsupported list could very probably be flagged as supported, given a retest, I remember that being tested as fully working 7 years ago or so. Then again, updating all the potential Wintermute games is probably quite a lot of work.

[23:44] <grogbot> <jcGyo> I dunno if this is an OS issue or what, but I've tried both scummvm 2.2 and 2.6 with the same issue, I have a PPC mac with os x 10.4.11 and an external midi synth attached via USB, every time I restart ScummVM I have to go back into the options and reselect the USB Midi / CoreMidi device or I get an error that it can't be found, anyone have any ideas on how I could get around that little inconvenience?
