[12:43] <Grogbot> <Vanfanel> Hello! I was wondering what is the state of the Dungeon Master engine. It was ALMOST complete years ago: I build a version on which only save/load and audio seemed to be failing! Looking at the commits on github, it seems there has been some files changed since then, but I am not sure on how has it really advanced.

[14:20] <Grogbot> <criezy> Nice.
[14:21] <Grogbot> <rootfather> Very cool
[14:21] <Grogbot> <criezy> I have been wondering though if it might not be better to use the VideoLAN clud storage library to remove the burden to have to maintain our own code.
[14:21] <Grogbot> <criezy> https://code.videolan.org/videolan/libcloudstorage
[14:25] <Grogbot> <Henke37> this reminds me of the pink engine. it's almost ready for public consumption
[14:26] <Grogbot> <Henke37> the actual game runs fine. but the menubar and pda need finishing touches
[14:26] <Grogbot> <Henke37> pitty
[14:34] <LePhilousophe> criezy: "The library can be build on any platform which has a proper C++11 support."
[14:35] <Grogbot> <criezy> Right. For us that might be an issue.
[14:36] <Grogbot> <criezy> I have not actually checked either that it can do everything that we need.
[14:36] <Tkachov> I'm not ready to rewrite everything (=

[15:58] <Grogbot> <Mataniko> Can we fast-track this for review?
[16:04] <Grogbot> <SupSuper> is there a write-up on what this changes?
[16:05] <Tkachov> a very short (not really specific) one
[16:07] <Grogbot> <SupSuper> only thing i noticed is "Wi-Fi" sounds very specific when i assume it works across any LAN
[16:08] <Tkachov> oh, it works, I just thought about usecase where the device is a phone or something that does not have ethernet
[16:43] <Grogbot> <rootfather> Then technically I would prefer LAN since it doesnt matter then if its WiFi or wired or IoAC 😁
[16:53] --> danish joined #scummvm.
[17:04] <Grogbot> <criezy> Or "Local Sharing" to distinguish it from "Cloud"?
[17:05] <Grogbot> <rootfather> +1
[17:07] <Grogbot> <SupSuper> "LAN Sharing" or "Network Sharing" makes sense to me. or "Cloud Sync" and "LAN Sync". ugh i hate getting into semantics 😛
[17:17] <danish> On the off chance someone reads this who can submit a bug report, apologies I've been trying but can't get my github account to authorize for some reason. There is a game breaking bug/bugs for Gregory and the Hot Air Ballon (both english and french) as of 2.0. I've tested latest daylies and it doesn't work. The game works fine in 1.9. (Both Ubuntu
[17:17] <danish> and Debian builds) The errors state "unable to unload library 29" and "archive does not contain 'ANIM' 2715." The second error is easily re-creatable by clicking the carnival ticket in your inventory. I have included the saves and a screenshot in the following links:https://i.imgur.com/oNXk23s.png https://files.catbox.moe/h7aaxp.zip
[17:22] <danish> Again, sorry for the imposition and thank you to anyone who can help.

[18:06] <Grogbot> <DreamMaster> Work on Legend games is likely to be on the backburner for a while. At the moment I'm focusing on the ScummGlk engine.
[18:07] <Grogbot> <DreamMaster> Unless someone can source original source code for them, even after ScummGlk is done I'll likely find some easier adventure games to work on, or return to work on implementing support for the Ultima games

[18:22] --> timofonic joined #scummvm.
[18:24] <girafe> support for ultima games exists ?
[18:38] <-- vyzigold left irc: Ping timeout: 244 seconds
[18:40] <Grogbot> <DreamMaster> Well, I was about halfway through adding support for Ultima 1 before I got sidetracked into working on ScummGlk. Basically overworld & dungeons were done, I just needed to reverse engineering the stupid space battle section and engine for it to be complete. I'm actually looking forward to completing U1 at least.. I wrote code in to make it easier to later add in support for the Ultima 6 tileset, so we could end up with a ScummVM
[18:40] <Grogbot> Enhanced version with full 256 color graphics. At least for towns and the overworld. Would need to see what could be done to enhance the dungeons
[18:46] <Grogbot> <DreamMaster> Maybe, at the very least, an automapper 😃
[18:59] <girafe> the version you are using for each game is the DOS version ? is it possible to use other versions ? like amiga ?
[19:20] <Grogbot> <DreamMaster> Yes, I'll only be targetting the DOS versions. Since the Ultima collection is available for purchase from GOG, players on any systems will be able to use it with ScummVM, not just PC users.
[19:26] <Grogbot> <Henke37> people with copies from other systems might be a bit dummed if they can't use their legitimate copies

[22:38] <girafe> for example probably first lucasfilm games are better on amiga/atari st than pc ?
[22:42] <Grogbot> <DreamMaster> Well, there'll be nothing stopping anyone else from looking into supporting other platform versions in the future. Generally, though, it takes so long to disassemble the PC version of a game, that I'm a) uninterested it devoting so much extra time to disassembling another system version. And b) I'm only familiar with PC assembly anyway.
