[04:20] I'm having problem with ScummVM not recognizing my Fate of Atlantis from Discord/Nitrox - any ideas what might be wrong? [04:42] zokum: you'd have to be more specific. have you checked https://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php?title=Datafiles#Indiana_Jones_and_the_Fate_of_Atlantis [04:43] yes, i have tried pointing it to that folder and other folders like the parent folder [04:44] my version seems to "match" the pc cd, but i am guessing there are some minor changes that make checksums not work [04:46] both manual and auto detection fails [04:46] if it was just a checksum difference you'd get an "unrecognized variant" message. what scummvm version are you using? [04:48] i am using 2.2.0, from the main site [04:53] the ATLANTIS dir has all the classic files you'd expect, monster.sou, atlantis.exe, helpme.exe, atlantis.001, a windows icon file etc [04:59] no matter where i point the "add game" browser, it says there is no game in that folder [05:04] both atlantis.000 and atlantis.001, correct? [05:08] hmm, no [05:09] that might be the issue. i'd check if discord installed the game correctly, it's kinda unusual for it to be provided without scummvm packed in [05:09] the game runs fine [05:10] how does it run? dosbox? natively? [05:11] natively, windows executable dated 23.05.2020 version 1.0.0.2 [05:15] hmm this is apparently the steam version. sadly i only have the gog version to test, which is different [05:16] yeah, i found some references about how you can rip the data from the exe to make it play - it's odd that this isn't done by scummvm already [05:17] it should, open a bug about it on https://bugs.scummvm.org/ so it gets checked out [05:18] i can't debug it myself and i don't think anyone's online right now [05:18] it's sleepy time in europe 😛 [05:19] Port build status changed with b9a28b64: Failure: master-amigaos4 [05:20] and include details of your version, filesizes etc, in case it's different from our detection tables [05:22] though i doubt it since they're usually just repackaged steam/gog versions [05:29] it's odd as it "looks" like a steam version, like you said [05:29] https://bugs.scummvm.org/ticket/12073#ticket do they match yours? [05:30] i have the gog version, which has atlantis.000 so it's different [06:47] 🤔I guess the exe (or the index embedded within) is the file used for detection, and steam's exe uses steam drm (linked with steam_api.dll), the discord version probably not using steam's drm, so the executable might be different in that case. (the index file embedded within might begin at different offset as well) (atlantis.001 might be the same, hopefully). [07:27] _sev__ (~sev@scummvm/undead/sev) joined #scummvm. [17:11] The first two games are unlikely.. they were released around 2000, and I think the minimum supported AGS version for the interpreter, 2.5, was released a few years later. Larry Vales III, though, was released in 2007 according to the AGS games database. So it will likely be supported [17:13] A rule of thumb may be if the AGS game is packaged with a DOS vs Windows executable. When I was trying the standalone AGS interpreter on several random AGS games I'd downloaded over the years, the only one that didn't work was Quest for Glory 4 1/2, and it had a DOS executable. [17:28] I'd love to have the Ben and Dan games on ScummVM. So funny. [17:28] And some of those Sierra fan remakes are great. [17:42] When the engine is merged into master, and I've had some more time to polish things up, then you might want to consider volunteering to test it if it's within the supported range. 🙂 [17:42] Is there perhaps a conversion tool to upgrade games to v2.5 interpreter? [17:44] Not that I'm aware of. Though if you had the original game sources, you might be able to open them up in the 2.5 version of the editor and upgrade them that way. Unfortunately, it seems very authors released source code. [17:46] On a tangent, I can't remember if earlier versions source code was ever released. If so, there's always a possibility of extending the range of supported versions in the future. Even if not, eventually I may look into reverse engineering an older AGS game. Though if so, it likely wouldn't be for years, since my preference would be to work on the Legend Entertainment games if I'm reverse engineering something from scratch [18:12] balrog (~balrog@unaffiliated/balrog) left irc: Quit: Bye [18:15] balrog (~balrog@unaffiliated/balrog) joined #scummvm.
