[11:34] <eriktorbjorn> sev: Unfortunately I have no ideas about the other Buried in Time bugs. Some apparently happen in the original as well, but https://bugs.scummvm.org/ticket/12885 might be unique to ScummVM. Doesn't look like a very important bug, but still...
[11:35] <_sev> if you could kind of narrow it down, I can ask guys to check the original code
[11:48] <eriktorbjorn> _sev: Well, I think I narrowed it down to CodexTowerOutsideDoor::mouseUp(). It has two different cutscenes for opening the door, but they seem to only be about how the door was opened. Both would show what I assume is the agent time-jumping away. I couldn't find any cutscene without that. That's why I asked Thunderforge if there was still an animation the second time he opened the door, but he hasn't replied yet.
[11:51] <eriktorbjorn> I tried downloading the GOG version, but I couldn't get it running - neither with Wine nor Windows - so I can't compare it myself.

[14:10] <grogbot> <dongchan> So I tried The X Fools. Scummvm ScummVM 2.4.0git189-gd4fe0dd11d7 Both The X Fools and Abduct This! are recognized but non of them are playable. "ERROR: Failed to load RIFX from EXE!"
[14:16] <eriktorbjorn> dongchan: https://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Director/Games lists them as Director 6 games. I don't now what Direction versions ScummVM supports, but I thought it was something like "parts of Director 1 through 3"?
[14:21] <grogbot> <dongchan> It seems like it. I guess I was reading too quickly and didn't realized those were too advanced for testing yet 😓
[14:27] <grogbot> <dongchan> Anyway the front page of the project states you guys are actively collecting info on any Director-based (and Shockwave) titles that we catalogue on the wiki.
[14:32] <grogbot> <dongchan> That's why I'll also put that here too: I copied the files from my CDrom copy of Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster, and I couldn't add it, nothing was detected.
[14:33] <grogbot> <dongchan> I'm not sure if it only works on the installed version or not.
[14:53] <grogbot> <eientei> Unless you have FRANKIE.EXE on the disc, then you'll need to install it first
[15:12] <grogbot> <dongchan> Indeed, though my version isn't recognized. I'll just wait for the support to mature a bit. And proper instructions for copying the game data properly.

[17:30] <eriktorbjorn> _sev: Thanks. The only D2 game I have, as far as I know, is the Mac version of Spaceship Warlock (where I'm still uncertain about which files I need).
[17:34] <eriktorbjorn> I know the Wiki says "all files from the CD-ROM", but does that really include "Trash" and "Desktop Folder"?
[17:34] <_sev> yes. those are empty
[17:34] <_sev> or maybe 10kb
[17:34] <_sev> so just take everything
[17:35] <_sev> here is the detailed description: https://docs.scummvm.org/en/latest/use_scummvm/mac_game_files.html
[17:35] <eriktorbjorn> And I assume "Total Distortion DEMO!!" and "Warlock Trailer" are just that: demos/trailers not used by the full game
[17:35] <eriktorbjorn> _sev: I just tried the web-based dumper. Worked fine with the ISO I made from the CD recently.
[17:35] <_sev> yes, could be, but then it is difficult to say which files do they use
[17:36] <_sev> as the files are accessed by the Lingo scripts which span in those hundreds of the game movies
[17:36] <_sev> each scene is a separate movie
[17:38] <eriktorbjorn> _sev: These are the files I extracted: http://www.update.uu.se/~d91tan/tmp/warlock-mac-filelist.txt
[17:38] <_sev> yep. typical Warlock Mac CD
[17:38] <_sev> but you needed to encode it
[17:39] <_sev> files "Spaceship Warlock???" should be puny-encoded
[17:39] <_sev> let me see if we fixed that or still not
[17:39] <eriktorbjorn> _sev: I noticed. I checked "Allow Unicode file names" just to see what would happen.
[17:40] <_sev> yep, we did
[17:40] <_sev> the file should be named "xn--Spaceship Warlock-306j"
[17:42] <eriktorbjorn> _sev: By the way, the code that looks for the original Mac MI1 / Loom executable probably doesn't handle punycode. (Unless it's done automagically.)
[17:42] <_sev> do they have non-ascii characters in their file names?
[17:42] <eriktorbjorn> _sev: Loom does.
[17:43] <eriktorbjorn> Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, too. I forgot about that.
[17:44] <eriktorbjorn> _sev: It starts here: https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm/blob/d4fe0dd11d775bbd1c0f7fddcbb77dda1c801f89/engines/scumm/scumm.cpp#L1318
[17:45] <_sev> additional testing is required, but if you're trying to get just "Loom", then of course, it will not even try puny-encoding it. And if you got file named "Loom?", then it will not be detected
[17:45] <_sev> ah, you're trying there in MacRoman encoding
[17:45] <_sev> maybe worth switching, or at this moment, adding punycode as an alternative

[20:33] <grogbot> <DreamMaster> If it's something you're just starting, you might want to consider working on a game engine that was used across multiple games, like the SSI engine.
[20:34] <grogbot> <DreamMaster> Though in it's case, I think there may already be reimplemented engines for that, so maybe not
