[10:09] <grogbot> <antoniou79> I wonder what's keeping a re-release of titles like Black Dhalia. The rights couldn't have been harder to resolve than Blade Runner.
[11:23] <-- APic left irc: Quit: leaving
[11:24] <eriktorbjorn> antoniou79: Maybe it depends on if they can get it working or not? I think that was a game I tried running under Windows years ago, and found it unplayable because at the slightest attempt to turn I would just spin uncontrollably fast. I could be confusing it with some other game, of course.
[11:24] --> APic joined #scummvm.
[11:40] <grogbot> <antoniou79> No, that is right. I had the same experience
[11:40] <grogbot> <Henke37> It sadly wasn't popular to do framerate independent speeds back then.
[11:41] <grogbot> <antoniou79> But I think you could try some third party program to emulate the slower tick rate intended to play the game

[13:57] <GuiToris> hello, can I move GOG games to Scummvm's android port?
[13:58] <eriktorbjorn> If it's a game ScummVM supports, I would hope so.
[13:59] <grogbot> <antoniou79> You can play the supported by ScummVM games on GOG on the Android port of ScummVM.
[13:59] <grogbot> <antoniou79> Which ones do you have in mind?
[13:59] <GuiToris> I've Sam and Max installed in this computer, it runs by Scummvm
[14:00] <GuiToris> pathS of GOG are very tricky and I don't know what files I actually need
[14:01] <GuiToris> if I show you a list, can you tell me?
[14:01] <grogbot> <antoniou79> The safe bet would be to copy the GOG folder (where you installed the game) as is to your Android phone.
[14:01] <GuiToris> or does the ini say so?
[14:01] <grogbot> <antoniou79> GOG probably has a ScummVM subfolder in there too. You don't need that for Android
[14:01] <GuiToris> yes it does
[14:02] <grogbot> <antoniou79> You don't need it, but it won't hurt to keep it. It will only increase the size of the folder you copy.
[14:03] <grogbot> <antoniou79> Our wiki says that you only need three files at the very least: https://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Sam_&_Max_Hit_the_Road
[14:03] <GuiToris> https://bpa.st/raw/2ZAQ
[14:03] <GuiToris> thanks, I'll check them out
[14:04] <GuiToris> awesome, thank you
[14:04] <grogbot> <antoniou79> Yes, you already have those files in there. You could try just copying those three. Or you could keep the folder as is
[14:05] <GuiToris> I have a question: https://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php?title=Putt-Putt_series
[14:05] <GuiToris> Putt-Putt: Pep's Birthday Surprise (2003) (non-SCUMM and not supported)
[14:06] <GuiToris> I noticed that I couldn't import this one
[14:06] <GuiToris> does it mean, it's currently not supported, or it never will be
[14:15] <eriktorbjorn> Wasn't that one made using a completely different engine, along with Pajama Sam: Life Is Rough When You Lose Your Stuff?
[14:22] <grogbot> <antoniou79> So that means that it's currently not supported. I cannot speak of the future of course, and I am not familiar with that specific game to tell if it fits ScummVM's scope or the changed the format of the gameplay too much.
[14:24] <grogbot> <antoniou79> In order for a game to be supported by ScummVM, someone (a developer or a team of developers) have to re-implement its engine. Until that is done for this game(s), they cannot be supported in ScummVM.
[14:31] <GuiToris> got it
[14:31] <GuiToris> thank you very much for your help :)
[14:32] <eriktorbjorn> antoniou79: From a quick glance at YouTube, it has a very similar look to the earlier Putt-Putt games. So it would probably be in scope, but I know absolutely nothing about the YAGA engine.
[14:34] <GuiToris> thank you very much once again, I have to leave now
[14:34] <GuiToris> see you later :)
[14:34] <-- GuiToris left irc: Quit: Sieben Acht Gute Nacht!
[14:49] <grogbot> <sev> Yes, YAGA engine which is basically Python interpreter with extensions
[14:51] <grogbot> <sev> I do not think there is enough interest in bringing that monstrousity (whole Python interpreter) to ScummVM for supporting two games. But if anyone does, I have the sources for that engine obtained from one of the current IP right holders

[15:08] <grogbot> <antoniou79> Oh wow, this special event article about ScummVM 20th anniversary went live on GOG just an hour or so ago: https://www.gog.com/news/special_event_bscummvm_20th_anniversaryb
[15:17] <grogbot> <gu3> They even included games that were very recently supported (e.g. Crusader: No Remorse)
[15:21] <-- Maturion left irc: Ping timeout: 252 seconds
[15:39] <grogbot> <Henke37> Those are some low prices.
[15:45] <grogbot> <Khvostik> Wow, awesome
[15:49] <grogbot> <antoniou79> Interesting, I don't see it in the page with the list of discounts, but the discount is there on its own store page. Maybe they reworked the main list so as to only show titles there that currently come with a version of ScummVM installed, because there was some confusion in the corresponding forum discussion. But the discounts are for other ScummVM supported titles as well, but one has to manually search for them or get a notification
[15:49] <grogbot> if they already have them on wishlist.
[15:51] <grogbot> <Die4Ever> GOG started a day early lol
[16:05] <grogbot> <DreamMaster> They missed Starship Titanic 😛
[16:05] <grogbot> <DreamMaster> I guess they never got around to using ScummVM with it.
[16:09] <grogbot> <gu3> is there someone from GOG who can notify them to add it?
[16:13] <grogbot> <DreamMaster> There are likely quite a few games that are ScummVM supported, but not on the list, like Return to Zork and the Zork Anthology, as well. As antoniou79 said, these are probably just the ones with ScummVM actually bundled
[16:13] <grogbot> <DreamMaster> Having any sale promoting us to begin with is a wonderful thing, so I'm not complaining 🙂
[16:16] <grogbot> <criezy> Starship Titanic was in the list initially, but apparently they removed from the list games supported by ScummVM, but for which GOG is not using ScummVM (there were some complaints that they were included in the first few posts of the discussion).
[16:16] <grogbot> <criezy> So I guess the list now only includes games they distribute with ScummVM.
[16:17] <grogbot> <criezy> Although others are on sales too (Starship Titanic is at -84%)

[16:30] <grogbot> <DreamMaster> Hah. Yes 🙂
[16:31] <grogbot> <Henke37> Maybe on the anniversary of the merge.

[18:40] <grogbot> <Thunderforge> The rest of the ScummVM-supported games on sale are either original interpreters or some other improvements to run on hardware.
[18:46] <grogbot> <antoniou79> According to the list I made a couple of days ago, they're missing the Pajama Sam (Vol1 and Vol2) packs, and the first two Broken Sword games (though in those two, the legacy versions are extras, but they do come with ScummVM -- similar to the current Simon 1 and 2 and 7th Guest releases)
[18:46] <grogbot> <antoniou79> Purely from the perspective of games they offer bundled with ScummVM that is.
[18:47] <grogbot> <rootfather> Uh, wait, they have the originals as well? This was the only point which made me not buying the games there as well until now
[18:48] <grogbot> <antoniou79> they do yes.
[18:50] <grogbot> <SupSuper> on steam they're included as "free dlc" which is a bit confusing
[19:05] --> Maturion joined #scummvm.
[19:14] <grogbot> <Retrodude> yeah, the original versions being included is literally the only reason to get those "remasters"
[19:15] <grogbot> <Retrodude> assuming you didn't already buy them before they delisted the solo original versions to make way for them
[19:16] <grogbot> <rootfather> I only have two or three disk versions 😄
[19:18] <grogbot> <Retrodude> i randomly stumbled onto the Mac version of The 7th Guest last time i visited my local Goodwill. i don't really have anything to run it on but it was CIB so i couldn't NOT get it
[19:19] <grogbot> <Retrodude> it was left in with the board games, incidentally. i still live by LGR's advice years ago to check that section in case an unaware employee mistook a big box PC game for a tabletop game
[19:22] <grogbot> <rootfather> Sometimes, I buy various disk/game collections in bulk, so I have quite a few of duplicates 😄
[19:23] <grogbot> <Retrodude> so do i, mostly due to not remembering if i have something already or not when i go thrifting XD
[19:23] <grogbot> <Retrodude> i really oughta start cataloging these CD-ROMs at some point to stop doing that
