[16:09] <Grogbot> <sev> in number of cases, like the options screen, it used fade in while still running animation
[16:10] <Grogbot> <sev> it is a nice visual effect, but then it complicates its local loop, by turning it into a state machine
[16:10] <Grogbot> <sev> now, if we would unroll all of those loops and make it on a global level, that would be a disaster to maintain
[16:11] <Grogbot> <sev> when you create your engine from the scratch, you could consider that, and try to go with a nice architectural solution, but when we're dealing with somebody's code, this is a pain to refactor
[16:13] <Grogbot> <sev> and again, in number of cases that is not justifiable. It is very similar to the 'goto debate', when you still have a nice application of gotos when you have to exit from a deep block. Implementing flags and passing them into all the outer layers is a pain
