Is it possible to update https://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/AGIWiki/WinAGI ? 1. The website url http://www.winagi.com isn't valid, it should be http://agiwiki.sierrahelp.com/index.php?title=WinAGI 2. The latest version isn't 1.2.2, but 1.2.7 3. There's a direct link in our wiki to 1.2.2, it's better removed, or updated. [19:18] or is this one of those "the original wiki went down so 10 mirrors popped up" [19:26] > seems kinda redundant to duplicate a wiki available elsewhere? @SupSuper That's a good point. Maybe it's better to remove our page, and just link to the WinAGI wiki page. Unless there are other opinions? So in Nuvie's case, it increases the default resolution, turns on the full screen map, opening containers shows a container widget like in Ultima 7, and other stuff I can't remember off the top of my head [20:55] Similarly for Ultima 4, it turns on various enhancement options of the xu4 engine it's derived from [20:57] Will scummvm ever support the ultima underworld games? [20:58] Possibly eventually. The only current reimplementation I'm vaguely aware of is based on Unity, so it'd be difficult to integrate as is. But if someone had the time and enthusiasm to do it, it'd be in scope for ScummVM [21:00] And I'm not sure whether that particular one is even complete or not [21:00] girafe (~girafe@lfbn-gre-1-189-61.w90-112.abo.wanadoo.fr) left irc: Quit: Leaving [21:01] girafe (~girafe@lfbn-gre-1-189-61.w90-112.abo.wanadoo.fr) joined #scummvm. [21:10] So Scummvm supports akalabeth, ultima 4, 6 and 8, am i right? [21:12] Ultima 9 doesn't count as well, as i think that game should go into residualvm [21:15] > Possibly eventually. The only current reimplementation I'm vaguely aware of is based on Unity, so it'd be difficult to integrate as is. But if someone had the time and enthusiasm to do it, it'd be in scope for ScummVM And i Just have one question, will exult (ultima 7) integrate into scummvm? [21:17] Ultima 1, 2, and 3 likely eventually, yes. Though it'll take longer since there aren't any pre-existing reimplementations of them. I'm partway through reverse engineering and reimplementing Ultima 1, but my work is currently on hiatus for a while. [21:18] I don't know of any Ultima 9 of which you speak, and if such a game exists, I must have mentally suppressed it due to sheer hideousness. [21:18] As for Ultima 7, it currently has active developers, and they'd prefer to keep it separate for now [21:20] So we/I am respecting their wishes. There's no hurry; reintegration can always be revisited at some point in the future, since all the source code is available [21:21] The name of ultima 9 is "Ultima IX: Ascension" [21:22] I know, I was making a joke. I made the mistake of buying the collectors addition when it first came out, and it was a very painful experience with frequent crashes, bad graphics, and a terrible plot from the little I saw before I gave up. Honestly, Spoony's rant about "What's a paladin?" sums it up completely for me [21:24] As I've previously mentioned elsewhere, apparently the "Ultima Codex" were given a copy of the U9 source code, so in theory someone with enough time on their hands (i.e. not me) could maybe create a reimplementation of it. Maybe then some of the bugs and issues could finally be resolved [21:43] Thx for the information. I'm here because i'm not happy with the fact that the wiki is kinda "outdaded" sometimes [21:46] No problem [22:37] Cheeseness (~cheesenes@ppp118-209-98-148.hba-tec-tas-bras31.tpg.internode.on.net) left irc: Ping timeout: 240 seconds [22:43] So i found out that there's 2 source ports for ultima underworld 1/2 The underworld exporter (which runs on the unity game engine) https://github.com/hankmorgan/UnderworldExporter And also the abysmal engine (which is dead since 2009) http://abysmal.sourceforge.net/index.php [22:44] there was also an engine called "LoW" (or something like that) for UW2 [22:45] yeah, LOW: http://low.sourceforge.net/ [22:45] for UW1 there was UWADV: http://uwadv.sourceforge.net/ [22:48] ny00123 (~ny00123@5.102.219.171) left irc: Quit: Leaving [22:48] I'd really want a solid and faithful sourceport of UW1. It's one of those games that is really really good but hard to get into for technical reasons. [22:49] uwadv was abandoned in 2007, LOW in 2003(!)... but the source code should still be available [22:51] Are any of them "complete"? If not, they may be only mildly helpful as a guide for someone to disassemble the games in the future. [22:52] Both engines aren't complete [22:52] (I guess) [22:52] With even the current "complete" ultima4 engine based on xu4, I'm slightly at a loss to fix any bugs that come up, since I don't have any original disassembly of the game. So it's not easy for figure what the original did [22:56] Is UW a candidate for Residual now? But yeah, probably the most useful thing is that uwadv documents the Underworld data formats. [22:57] > there was also an engine called "LoW" (or something like that) for UW2 @Grogbot well, Thx grogbot, now there's 4 engines [22:58] > Is UW a candidate for Residual now? UW isn't even true 3d and it doesn't use true 3d models [22:59] Instead UW uses a raycaster [22:59] they're not complete, no. LOW could render the levels and NPCs quite nicely and had the beginnings of a conversation system. uwadv had some impressive 3D map screenshots and a top-down level viewer/editor but wasn't a lot further gameplay-wise [23:00] oh I just realized uwadv has a new homepage: https://vividos.github.io/UnderworldAdventures/ [23:00] Does it actually raycast? That seems wrong... [23:01] According to this list it is: https://www.terrybutler.co.uk/misc/the-ray-casting-games-list/ I don't know how authoritative it is [23:02] Shine_ (~Shine@dynamic-095-116-214-052.95.116.pool.telefonica.de) joined #scummvm. [23:02] Actually, maybe not really. The early Might and Magic games are on that list, and I don't know that they could be called raycasting games by any stretch of the imagination. So forget I said anything [23:02] raycasters and something like that where a commom "technique" used on many 3D fps (and a few RPGs) engines on the early until the mid 90s [23:03] yeah raycasting means different things in different contexts [23:13] I don't think it's true raycasting in the classic sense (like Wolf3D). [23:15] > I don't think it's true raycasting in the classic sense (like Wolf3D). @thoth i still believe that UW uses true raycasting, but can you say why? [23:29] The early Might & Magic games doesn't seem to use raycasting (and it doesn't) So that article is kinda misleading sometimes [23:29] it just looks like a list of 2.5d games [23:30] That's exactly a list of 2.5d games [23:31] I mean, that would be the same thing as lying that the OG bard's tale trilogy used raycasting [23:35] So, case closed. UW isn't even a candidate to residual and more likely a candidate to scummvm [23:43] Shine_ (~Shine@dynamic-095-116-214-052.95.116.pool.telefonica.de) left irc: Read error: Connection reset by peer [23:50] Cheeseness (~cheesenes@ppp118-209-76-230.hba-tec-tas-bras32.tpg.internode.on.net) joined #scummvm.
