[18:06] <Grogbot> <DreamMaster> @Dominus Dragon will be pleased to hear that as of last night, I finally got the entire Ultima 8 project compiling as a ScummVM engine. With no external dependencies to the standard libraries. With only a few places needing to be temporarily #ifdef-ed out, such as in the music code. Now comes the funner part of getting it up and running.

[18:37] <Grogbot> <DreamMaster> Yeh. I've had several long nights just getting through it all. Once I really got started, it was hard to stop. There was always one more file to convert, one more problematic template to figure out, or replicate from the standard library, yet using the ScummVM classes.
[18:39] <Grogbot> <DreamMaster> It's been a while since I could properly lose myself in converting a game. It's been satisfying. Even with Glk, the bulk of the code files stay as it, and are just wrapped up in a namespace at most. Very few actually used any STL classes either, so there wasn't as much joy from getting them running under Glk.

[18:54] <Grogbot> <DreamMaster> Yes, I noticed some influences in the design, though of course I hadn't really delved much into the actual code yet beyond what was necessary to fix compile errors. Some of the classes are very familiar, like the Archive base class that the zip archive derived from. And others, like the config file manager and game detector will able to be dispensed with entirely now.
