It would provide great feedback from seasoned developers and those may also contribute with useful patches. Also, helping at merging Pull Request may be interesting. Your community is not Discord-focused (for example, Discord bots or modifications are not accepted). > 2. Your community has at least 1,000 members, or the GitHub repo has at least 1,000 stars. > 3. Your community [20:15] adheres to the Discord community guidelines (https://discord.com/guidelines). [20:15] 1000 members or 1000 stars in GitHub [20:16] I was describing that we are an OSS project [20:19] 1480 stars in GitHub! [20:22] when I have time, I'll submit it [20:22] We already have a pull request there (it was open in 2019!). [20:22] https://github.com/discord/discord-open-source/pull/185 [20:22] And it is still open. [20:23] The pending PR don't make it very promising, anyway. I'm not sure where did you send your verification proposal. opensource@discord.com [20:39] https://discord.com/open-source is effectively dead. i contacted them about it years ago, their focus is elsewhere now. i assume it was someone's pet project and they moved on [20:44] @SupSuper I see they're adding projects, though, and enable different features for them [20:45] like this: https://github.com/discord/discord-open-source/pull/348 [20:45] 2 weeks ago [20:45] so, perhaps, we could do 2 things [20:45] 1. Update the description [20:45] 2. optimize our logo [20:46] or perhaps, better close and reopen for better visibility [20:46] i'll have a look. i'm pretty sure i already optimized the logo i PRed last time [20:48] but i personally don't care for discord's policies. they are completely opaque and baffling. i first made a PR for another project back in mar 2019, and that was merged without issue: https://github.com/discord/discord-open-source/pull/151 [20:49] fast-forward to jun 2019 when i made the scummvm PR, and nothing. tons of similar PRs sitting in the repo, nothing. i even tweeted at them in 2020, nothing: https://twitter.com/SupSuper/status/1259321815446491143 [20:49] also even if this gets merged, all it does is get you a link on https://discord.com/open-source which i'm not sure any user even checks [20:49] you can get also a vanity URL [20:50] and server splash [20:50] e.g. https://discord.gg/scummvm instead of the current random invite code [20:51] perhaps even the ability to make announcement channels [20:52] right [20:52] well my understanding is that's separate from the PR. that requires being "verified". the repo only states: > This is the source list of OSS communities that use and live on Discord. It is used to populate the list at https://discord.com/open-source. so who knows what their criteria is [20:52] umm, and verification is exactly what we were denied [20:53] right 🀷 [20:53] i also see this tag which i don't even know what it means: https://github.com/discord/discord-open-source/labels/added%20community [20:53] anyway, i'll update the PR. but i wouldn't get my hopes up [21:05] turned our server into community server [21:05] this brings few additional settings [21:07] ny00123 (~ny00123@5.102.197.144) left irc: Quit: Leaving [21:16] @Henke37 and that let me have the announcement channel [21:16] phew [21:17] hope they don't see the announcement badmouthing them now πŸ˜› [21:20] The "quote" field (if included, it is optional) is about your usage of Discord (and not about the open source project itself) anyone wanna write a quote, or do i just skip this?
