[08:22] <grogbot> <timofonic> Your C++ Best Practices book seem interesting! More complete and advanced reverse engineering books would be interesting. There's too many tools, too kinds of approaches, lots of binary and executable formats, tons of platforms and architectures. And not so much people is able to make very complex but very portable code at same time. I'm not a developer not part of ScummVM project. Also, it would amazing to ScummVM have a
[08:22] <grogbot> fully deep code analysis/audition from expert volunteers. It would provide great feedback from seasoned developers and those may also contribute with useful patches. Also, helping at merging Pull Request may be interesting. Doxygen documentation needs help too. There's experienced developers here, but this is a very big and growing project. I know this is too much effort, but I would love to make it happen. I'm only a fan, but want to see things

[20:15] <grogbot> <timofonic> @sev What about this? It may be an intermediate approach. https://discord.com/open-source https://github.com/discord/discord-open-source > this time, we are accepting communities which meet the following criteria: > 1. Your community is not Discord-focused (for example, Discord bots or modifications are not accepted). > 2. Your community has at least 1,000 members, or the GitHub repo has at least 1,000 stars. > 3. Your community

[20:15] <grogbot> <timofonic> 1000 members or 1000 stars in GitHub
[20:16] <grogbot> <sev> I was describing that we are an OSS project
[20:19] <grogbot> <timofonic> 1480 stars in GitHub!

[20:19] <grogbot> <sev> but if somebody is willing to help with that, well, no problem
[20:20] <grogbot> <timofonic> But maybe a Pull Request is looked by Discord geeks rather than a boring form.
[20:22] <grogbot> <sev> when I have time, I'll submit it
[20:22] <grogbot> <criezy> We already have a pull request there (it was open in 2019!).
[20:22] <grogbot> <criezy> https://github.com/discord/discord-open-source/pull/185
[20:22] <grogbot> <criezy> And it is still open.
[20:23] <grogbot> <timofonic> The pending PR don't make it very promising, anyway. They marketing seems good, the reality not so much. I'm not part of this organization, it's a very personal rant. https://github.com/discord/discord-open-source/pulls
[20:23] <grogbot> <sev> oh, right. Same stuff
[20:23] <grogbot> <timofonic> Ohh, yes. That's worrying
[20:25] <grogbot> <sev> maybe I could update it with the list of acceptance criteria
[20:25] <grogbot> <sev> @SupSuper here?
[20:29] <grogbot> <timofonic> Did you or any team member wrote here? I'm not sure where did you send your verification proposal. opensource@discord.com
[20:39] <grogbot> <SupSuper> https://discord.com/open-source is effectively dead. i contacted them about it years ago, their focus is elsewhere now. i assume it was someone's pet project and they moved on
[20:44] <grogbot> <sev> @SupSuper I see they're adding projects, though, and enable different features for them
[20:45] <grogbot> <sev> like this: https://github.com/discord/discord-open-source/pull/348
[20:45] <grogbot> <sev> 2 weeks ago
[20:45] <grogbot> <sev> so, perhaps, we could do 2 things
[20:45] <grogbot> <sev> 1. Update the description
[20:45] <grogbot> <sev> 2. optimize our logo
[20:46] <grogbot> <sev> or perhaps, better close and reopen for better visibility
[20:46] <grogbot> <SupSuper> i'll have a look. i'm pretty sure i already optimized the logo i PRed last time
[20:48] <grogbot> <SupSuper> but i personally don't care for discord's policies. they are completely opaque and baffling. i first made a PR for another project back in mar 2019, and that was merged without issue: https://github.com/discord/discord-open-source/pull/151
[20:49] <grogbot> <SupSuper> fast-forward to jun 2019 when i made the scummvm PR, and nothing. tons of similar PRs sitting in the repo, nothing. i even tweeted at them in 2020, nothing: https://twitter.com/SupSuper/status/1259321815446491143
[20:49] <grogbot> <SupSuper> also even if this gets merged, all it does is get you a link on https://discord.com/open-source which i'm not sure any user even checks
[20:49] <grogbot> <sev> you can get also a vanity URL
[20:50] <grogbot> <sev> and server splash
[20:50] <grogbot> <sev> e.g. https://discord.gg/scummvm instead of the current random invite code
[20:51] <grogbot> <Henke37> perhaps even the ability to make announcement channels
[20:52] <grogbot> <sev> right
[20:52] <grogbot> <SupSuper> well my understanding is that's separate from the PR. that requires being "verified". the repo only states: > This is the source list of OSS communities that use and live on Discord. It is used to populate the list at https://discord.com/open-source. so who knows what their criteria is
[20:52] <grogbot> <sev> umm, and verification is exactly what we were denied
[20:53] <grogbot> <SupSuper> right 🤷
[20:53] <grogbot> <SupSuper> i also see this tag which i don't even know what it means: https://github.com/discord/discord-open-source/labels/added%20community
[20:53] <grogbot> <SupSuper> anyway, i'll update the PR. but i wouldn't get my hopes up
