[10:32] <Grogbot> <Praetorian> Turning Subtitles from the options and pausing the game is possible in-game with Esc or clicking on McCoy, which should open up the KIA. It won't work for you, if you don't have the MODE.MIX file though
[10:32] <Grogbot> <Praetorian> Ctrl+F5 will bring up the scummvm menu, which would pause the game, but you can't access the subtitles option from that one.

[21:47] <Grogbot> <DreamMaster> My first guess would be that your save folder is accidentally set to something you don't have permission for. Try using the Options button in the ScummVM launcher, and checking the save path under the Paths tab
[21:48] <Grogbot> <DreamMaster> Also maybe the Edit game button as well to ensure you haven't accidentally somehow overriden the save path for just the game you're playing
