[04:33] <grogbot_> [discord] <scorp256> Some engines have literally thousands of files (for example Dracula 2 for PhoenixVR have around 4000 required files). I think if we do this then ScummVM will consist for 50% of these hashes 🙂 Also some engines (like Glk) can play literally unknown fan-made games, for which we do not have any information. So I doubt this is really feasible in the general purpose way.

[12:14] <grogbot_> [discord] <chkuendig> Running out of features to implement on the Web. Last one unmerged is MT32 emulation - which is mostly about supporting file importing via drag&drop so user can provide their ROMs. unfortunately the screen capture didnt capture the file dragging on the cursor for some reason

[19:07] <grogbot_> [discord] <.spinmaster> Interesting! Appreciate the update. The unknown variants maybe aside: what would be the approach for that: each game has different, known variants. Wouldnt you just need to build up a database with each file from each variant with a checksum for each file and based on that the variant integrity checker (or whatever this feature would be called) then compares the added files and lists any unnecessary or missing files
[19:07] <grogbot_> [discord] <.spinmaster> Again I remember there was a student here (from GSoC) who was working on a proof of concept a few years ago or at least was assigned with that project. I still think this would be a cool feature and helpful but understand that it might be difficult to cover 100% of all variants. Maybe an optional helper feature that is disabled by default and can be enabled **if** the user has problems with adding (and detecting) a variant& Just

[19:11] <grogbot_> [discord] <sev____> @.spinmaster at this moment, the project is in limbo
[19:11] <grogbot_> [discord] <sev____> we have a functional implementation, and I was even working on some engines
[19:11] <grogbot_> [discord] <beardizz> Hey all, any general point and click recommendations? Im a noob to scummvm and point and click gwmes so idk what games it even runs or what games are noob friendly
[19:11] <grogbot_> [discord] <sev____> but we faced hard a big roadblock, that I was not anticipating when we were developing
[19:12] <grogbot_> [discord] <sev____> @.spinmaster that is, getting the reference md5s for the detected games
[19:12] <grogbot_> [discord] <sev____> Start with free ones from our website. Beneath a Steel Sky is a good one. Broken Sword 2.5 is not bad either
[19:12] <grogbot_> [discord] <sev____> many people love Flight of the Amazon Queen
[19:13] <grogbot_> [discord] <sev____> and if you go for a darker theme, them the Dreamweb is a thing to try
[19:13] <grogbot_> [discord] <sev____> @beardizz https://www.scummvm.org/games
[19:14] <grogbot_> [discord] <.spinmaster> Thanks for the heads-up! No big deal, I was just curious and remembered the discussion when that topic was presented two or three years ago for GSoC. The Wiki is always super helpful when finding the correct, required game files. We'll see what the future brings!
[19:16] <grogbot_> [discord] <sev____> @beardizz ah, and Out of Order is another small and interesting game
[19:17] <grogbot_> [discord] <beardizz> Oh yeah, the broken sword 1 remake is on ps plus too! Thanks for reminding me of that series, I just watched a video on gabriel knight 3 and it looked fun so I want to get into the genre
[19:18] <grogbot_> [discord] <sev____> That one will be not easy to find
[19:18] <grogbot_> [discord] <sev____> Windows versions are cheap, though and often have sales
[19:20] <grogbot_> [discord] <beardizz> Eh Ill probably try broken sword 2.5
[19:20] <grogbot_> [discord] <sev____> 1,10 EUR for two games... okay
