[00:07] <grogbot_> [discord] <mduggan> Great! Glad to have this report. I agree the hotspots on the wire puzzle are a real pain, I'm not sure if the mouse hotspot offset is wrong or they were just bad to start with. Either way improvement would be possible. Happy to have bug reports about those things and I'll look at them eventually.

[04:53] <grogbot_> [discord] <dreammaster> For my Screenshot Friday, I'm presenting the results of a somewhat wandering path. Initially, I'd had trouble with the decompression code in Return of the Phantom. Some of the various functions in the original consisted of hand-coded assembly, and I've been relying on Claude.ai to do conversions to C for me. It works well in a lot of cases, but not in this one. Initially, I thought I'd be able to say bugger it, and just hook in co
[04:53] <grogbot_> [discord] <dreammaster> Now that I've got it correctly decompressing data, the MADS engine's kernel_game_startup is finally finishing correctly, and starting to go into Phantom specific stuff for the game's title screen. I'm currently working my way through it loading various resources, and am implementing endian and alignment safe loading logic. Hopefully I'll shortly be able to finally see in-game graphics. And be able to show them off next Friday 🙂

[18:59] <grogbot_> [discord] <startropic1> I played through the Mummy case of the first Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective FMV game lol
[18:59] <grogbot_> [discord] <startropic1> It's fun, but the cases are kinda super short. The other annoying thing is they want you to NOT explore all the content; you get the highest score by solving the case with minimal information/content viewed.
[19:07] <grogbot_> [discord] <jakejakejake1234> For the last several months I have been working on an update for the blade runner game. I call it the Jake update essentially. Basically the Jake update not only contains all the restored content that was cut from the game including cutscenes, dialogue, clues etc but it also contains several new branching paths including characters who can now be potential replicants, different endings and several characters who can be saved

[19:07] <grogbot_> [discord] <jakejakejake1234> I'll post the link to my fork here for anyone who wants to play the update. Just remember blade runner is a complicated game with many branching paths and I have made modififcations to all of them and even though I have done some testing I haven't tested all the paths yet so I apologise for some glitches that you may come across. Any bugs you come across be sure to let me know. So download the files in the link and have fun.
[19:07] <grogbot_> [discord] <damieng66> Hello hello! Not sure if ScummVM will ever "emulate" PC-98 adventures (I wish!), but for Halloween I wrote about a couple of obscure horror ones: the Dead of the Brain series. Hope it might be of interest. https://genesistemple.com/dead-of-the-brain (edited)
[19:18] <grogbot_> [discord] <gu3> I see your point but minimization of the clues used is a valid way to compute a score (I have created a murder mystery game that works like that)

[19:29] <grogbot_> [discord] <startropic1> No it's not. This is a continuation of a previous discussion in here, and fyi this is #general
