[02:07] <grogbot> [discord] <dreammaster> At least it was easy to replicate. I saw another crash bug report for World of Xeen when trying mine gold.. and I couldn't replicate either on master or 2.9.1 codebase both with a debug and memory sanitizer build (which detects memory corruptions as they happen) for both 32 and 64 bit MSVC builds. At this point, I'm inclined to suspect it may be corrupt data on the user's part

[13:39] <grogbot> [discord] <_happyferret> Made some more progress with the N64 port of ScummVM. I implemented a file system that lives entirely inside RDRAM (saving temporary state to flash memory just seems inefficient).
[13:39] <grogbot> [discord] <_happyferret> Unfortunately, it appears Indiana Jones: Fate of Atlantis needs extra care due to `SO_SAVE_STRING/SO_SAVE_STRING` using a separate IQ file.

[20:36] <grogbot> [discord] <sluicebox> i have that same request, but it's not hugo, it's the scummvm common pcspeaker class. it's deafening
[20:39] <grogbot> [discord] <sluicebox> this is how i "diplomatically" put it in AGI for Apple II music, but the subtext was "lol are you kidding me??"
[20:39] <grogbot> [discord] <sluicebox> ```c++
[20:39] <grogbot> [discord] <sluicebox> // Common::PCSpeaker is used for sound generation. It produces significantly
[20:39] <grogbot> [discord] <sluicebox> // louder volumes than the other AGI sound generators, so I've lowered the
[20:39] <grogbot> [discord] <sluicebox> // mixer volume for consistency.
[20:39] <grogbot> [discord] <sluicebox> #define A2_MIXER_VOLUME 20
[20:39] <grogbot> [discord] <sluicebox> ```
[20:43] <grogbot> [discord] <ccawley2011> The stream subclass has a volume control function: https://github.com/scummvm/scummvm/blob/master/audio/softsynth/pcspk.cpp#L99
[20:44] <grogbot> [discord] <ccawley2011> It's not exposed by the outer class (it's designed to eventually allow hardware PC Speaker support, where volume control isn't possible), but it should be OK to lower the volume for all users of the class.

[21:08] <grogbot> [discord] <sluicebox> that would be a good improvement. i've found the engine-specific pc speaker generators to produce closer volumes to the rest of scummvm; PCSpeaker is the only one i've encountered that's disproportionately loud
