For whatever reason, the bug (https://forums.mixnmojo.com/topic/200438-differences-in-the-amiga-version-of-mi2/) doesn't show up in ScummVM. But that's maybe because of a timing side effect in ScummVM implementation, or maybe it only shows up on Amiga because it's quite slow there.
