[12:52] <eriktorbjorn> Strange... one of the comments on GOG claims there was another version of Prisoner of Ice, with better voice acting. At first I thought he was imagining things, but it seems that the two copies I have are at least slightly different. In one, the intro ("January 1937 ... etc") is voiced. In the other one, it isn't.

[19:47] <droid2727> DrMcCoy: Aside from prejudice against Java, why *not* something written in Java?
[19:48] <DrMcCoy> I've yet to see anything written in Java not slow, sluggish and RAM-hungry like a horse
[19:49] <fuzzie> in all seriousness, we can just throw resources at it
[19:50] <fuzzie> in practice we need something low-maintenance above all
[19:50] <DrMcCoy> If I have to sit by idly while it's doing who-knows-what every time I want to change a bug property, I'll be sad
[19:51] <DrMcCoy> Relatedly, the Coverity Scan interface is making me really sad
[19:51] <wjp> but allura is still pretty slow anyway, so the bar on speed isn't very high...
[19:52] <DrMcCoy> Yes, Allura is also very annoying
[19:54] <DrMcCoy> But yeah, since I'm not volunteering to be 24/7 support for a perfect bug tracker, I guess I shouldn't be too high maintenance myself
[19:56] <DrMcCoy> And if trac is working for everybody, and it's low maintenance, and there's an easy way to migrate the date, I'm not going to throw a tantrum
[20:01] <wjp> is anybody considering a managed bug tracker an option?
[20:02] <fuzzie> Strangerke had some thoughts about that I think
[20:05] <wjp> he liked YouTrack, IIRC
[20:06] <eriktorbjorn> I see johndoe posted a brief note about the work-in-progress Shadow of the Comet and Prisoner of Ice engines earlier today. I guess it would be nice if they could be brought into a mergeable state, now that the games are easily available.

[20:20] <t0by> I am using the whole suite on a 10-person team and it *almost* doesn't suck.
[20:22] <eriktorbjorn> Heck, there is apparently two different DOS versions, though I hope they're similar enough internally that it doesn't matter. The Windows version uses Smacker for the cutscene videos. I don't know about the Macintosh version (though I do own a copy), and I'm just going to forget I ever learned there is a PlayStation and a SEGA Saturn version since I don't read Japanese. :-)
