[19:33] <snover> m_kiewitz: good news, i think i discovered a way to find when the game controls are active in sci1.1. a reference to the game controls object is stored at global 63, and you can check either its 'window' or 'state' properties to see if it is on-screen
[19:33] <snover> you can even check the 'highlightedIcon' property to see if it is pointing to an object with the name 'volumeSlider' if we wanted to be totally crazy about it

[19:36] <snover> because game scripts call kDoSoundMasterVolume to mess with the midi volume in the normal course of a game, so syncing whatever volume was passed to that kernel call (as is done now) screws up the stored volume in scummvm if the game has changed the volume itself
[19:37] <snover> like when there is speech, the volume gets reduced, and if you quit in the middle of that speech, now your music volume has spontaneously reduced itself
