[00:06] <Kirben> Unfortunately iTunes, Netflix, Zune and similar services only offer a decent range for movies/TV for USA (and maybe Canada), with little choice in other areas.
[00:07] <Kirben> I rely on Blu-Ray and DVDs from worldwide myself, and piracy really is effecting the markets, especially in niche areas (anime and animation).
[00:07] <digitall> Yes, I've seen a fair amount of trying to pass this kind of legislation in AU... but it comes down to availability and price.

[00:10] <Kirben> Only found one service (Cruncyroll) that offers legit high quality streaming worldwide for animation, but streaming is too unreliable, even with high speed connection. Again I wonder how much bandwidth is wasted by piracy, on limited Australian connections to overseas.

[00:12] <Kirben> Yes, libraries are great for sampling titles, but book prices are crazy over here. Thank goodness I can buy books from overseas.

[00:14] <digitall> And I'd blame Telstra/Optus for the overcontention of your uplinks.
[00:15] <digitall> Some things are going to be high latency as you are going 2 sat hops to US/EU sites :/
[00:15] <Kirben> Endy: I don't partically like Madman, numerous glitches that were never fixed (and still been sold), poor PAL-NTSC conversions, rip off releases (Dragon Ball Z reamstered), little care about other animated titles (Cartoon Network) and prices too high (specially for Blu-Ray).
[00:17] <Kirben> Yes, I wonder how much bandwidth is owned by Optus. Seems to take forever for the overseas links for Australia to be slowly expanded and upgraded too.
[00:21] <Kirben> Bandwidth problem is only going to get worse with National Broadband Network been built by government in Australia, when there is very little decent content inside Australia.
