[01:41] <risca> I'm currently experimenting with Death Gate and reverse engineering it for ScummVM. I gotta have something to do during the summer, so why not hack around with my favourite VM =)
[01:43] <risca> I've concluded that all music of the game is saved uncompressed in DGATE001.MUS. From inspection it looks like XMI format http://www.vgmpf.com/Wiki/index.php?title=XMI
[01:44] <risca> What's the best approach when it comes to extracting it?
[01:45] <risca> Should I look for "FORM" and "FF 2F" and then save everything in between?
[01:45] <risca> Sorry, "FORM" and 0xFF2F
[01:46] <LordHoto> When you reverse engineer it, you could just RE the format of that .MUS file and write some proper extraction routine.
[01:47] <risca> Ah, I could probably do that too
[01:47] <risca> What "music" formats do ScummVM support?
[01:47] <risca> I guess I could look that up
[01:47] <LordHoto> There's some code for parsing XMIDI files.

[08:57] Action: vendu notes scummvm and sdl are high on the list of stuff to be ported to his project os later :)
[08:57] <vendu> hey Strangerke, what's shakin'? :)
[08:57] <Strangerke> not much... not much
[08:57] <vendu> hehe
[08:57] <Strangerke> Still progressing on my Robin's engine...
[08:58] <vendu> Strangerke, i've been implementing parts of the c math library (usually libm) :)
[08:58] <Strangerke> (thanks to SylvainTV, obviously)
[08:58] Nick change: friggle_ -> friggle
[08:58] <vendu> Strangerke, learned some i387 fpu assembly to do basic trig and other stuff :)
[08:58] <vendu> Strangerke, sin, cos, tan, atan, etc.
[08:58] <vendu> Strangerke, the gnu extension sincos() can be done with very few i387 instructions too :)
[08:59] <vendu> fsincos calculates both sine and cosine at once :)
[08:59] <vendu> Strangerke, i need to add more stuff for ieee 754 compliance :)
[08:59] <vendu> Strangerke, how much do you know about the internals of scummvm?
[09:00] <vendu> Strangerke, i think i'll figure out something non-x for zero at some point
[09:00] <vendu> Strangerke, so i should probably provide scummvm with a backend for using it :)
[09:00] <vendu> Strangerke, something network-enabled, of course
[09:01] <Strangerke> If 'internals' include engines, I can help...
[09:02] <Strangerke> if it's the common code... just enough to use it, but that's pretty all
[09:02] <vendu> Strangerke, know any sdl?
[09:02] <vendu> Strangerke, i suppose sdl might be where to work at later :)
[09:02] <Strangerke> I wrote a game or two in C based on SDL, that's pretty all
[09:03] <Strangerke> (and of course I didn't finish those,... tsk)
[09:06] <vendu> Strangerke, i'll let you know if i roll my sleeves concerning sdl or anything :)
[09:06] <vendu> Strangerke, quite a bit of work on the kernel to actually get stuff running, but it's starting up nicely :)
[09:07] --> SimSaw joined #scummvm.
[09:07] <Strangerke> Are you still making progress, btw? Because your last commit seems to be more than 3 months old
[09:09] <vendu> Strangerke, ah, look at http://vendu.twodots.nl/zero.html instead :)
[09:09] <vendu> the latest work is not on github (yet?) :)
[09:09] <vendu> Strangerke, i'm basically revamping what i had in git :)
[09:09] <vendu> cleaning stuff up, testing stuff better, etc.
[09:09] <vendu> redesigning, reorganising, etc.
[09:10] <vendu> so not all features present on github are in yet
[09:10] <Strangerke> tsk... I wish you won't have a HDD failure
[09:10] <vendu> but i'll import and implement as need be :)
[09:10] <vendu> Strangerke, it's on my friend's dad's server too :)
[09:10] <vendu> Strangerke, i wonder which fs to use initially
[09:10] <vendu> berkeley fast might be good :)
[09:10] <vendu> i.e. ffs/ufs :)
[09:11] <Strangerke> FAT-16 FTW! \o/
[09:11] <vendu> i could most likely import freebsd's implementation of ufs as i'm berkeley-licensed to begin with :)
[09:11] <vendu> Strangerke, why reimplement that wheel? =P
[09:11] <vendu> as far as i know, freebsd should be good and solid code for the most part :)
[09:12] <vendu> and i'd think ffs implementation would have been ironed out during the last couple of decades anyway :)
[09:16] <vendu> Strangerke, fat will be done too
[09:16] <vendu> may different filesystems :)
[09:16] <vendu> Strangerke, but i'm eager to try ffs as the base/initial root filesystem :)
[09:16] <vendu> Strangerke, iso9660 cd/dvd support soon to access boot cd's etc. :)
[09:19] <vendu> Strangerke, if such projects interest you, welcome to #oszero :)
[09:19] <vendu> or just for some friendly chat, welcome :)
[09:20] <Strangerke> To be honest, it's a bit too low-level for me
[09:20] <vendu> Strangerke, it's a small channel at the moment, i would hope for more traffic :)
[09:20] <vendu> it's a general channel, no such thing as off-topic :P
[09:23] <vendu> i have a bootable ia-32 kernel with most of virtual memory done :)
[09:23] <vendu> nice pieces of libc (the malloc-allocator is my item of pride) :)
[09:23] <vendu> i'm getting started with fpu / math / ieee 754 stuff :)
[09:23] <vendu> there are a few ideas/plans for games
[09:23] <vendu> and so forth
[09:24] <vendu> Strangerke, but this is off-topic here so welcome to #oszero if you wish :)

[10:08] <dreammaster> Anyone familiar with create_project parameters? I wanted to use create_project to create an MSVC project file with all engines enabled except sword25 (and I don't want to manually modify the configure file, because that would show up as a Git change)
[10:09] <dreammaster> When I use parameters --enable-all-egines --disable-sword25 , create_project keeps complaining that 'sword25' isn't a feature. Yet the create_project help specifically says that '--disable-engine' will disable building of the engine with the name "engine"'
[10:10] <wjp> configure changed to --disable-engine=sword25. Maybe create_project followed suit?
